A vital component of Torah study is constant review. One should not allow himself to be satisfied with studying something once, and then assuming he has the full understanding of the topic, he needs instead to study it, and then review it again and again. By doing so, each time he will find deeper understanding and new appreciation for the subject matter.
This is one of the reasons why the Torah made the chewing of the cud a necessary sign for Kosher animals. Just as the animal isn't satisfied with receiving its sustenance, chewing it, and then being done with it, and instead brings it up again and chews it over a second time, so too we, with our spiritual sustenance, must not be satisfied with consuming it once, and being done with, but we must chew it over again and again.
