Rav Shlomo Alkabetz, composer of Lecho Dodi, wrote commentaries on several of the Megillos Shir HaShirim which we just read yesterday. I find it to be his most difficult to comprehend commentary, perhaps that is because it was the first one he published. Therefore what I am about to share with you may be what he intended, if not it is what I was inspired to understand based on his teaching.

He points out that there are different ways in which people try to find God. Some people look at Creation and try to find God from His works. The problem with taking that approach is that oftentimes people can never complete the connection and get diverted into other paradigms of understanding the world.
Others look at supernatural miracles and see God. The problem with that approach, he says, is that even though it will leave a person very impressed with God's power it does not lead to the creation of a relationship wit God as there is no understanding of the mind of God.
But if someone studies Torah then he is engaging in a dialogue with God as he pursues understanding the mind of God in his studies. In this way he can find God while developing a relationship with God at the same time.
