Pesach

Ever wonder what the name Pesach means? Our sages teach us that it can be understood as a combination of the words Peh Sach-the mouth speaks. The holiday of Pesach, Passover, is a celebration of Freedom of Speech. After all prior to the Exodus we were enslaved. To whom were we enslaved? To Paroah. If you look at Paroh in Hebrew פרעה you will find that it can be divided into the words פה רע Peh Rah, bad mouth. In Egypt we were under the influence and direction of Bad Mouth, we lacked the ability to use our mouths to serve God properly. In freedom we are Peh Sach, the mouth that speaks. We have mouths we can use to serve God.
